Joe Devine - 1960 Football

 

Devine played football, basketball and baseball under coaching legends Ralph Salvati and Buzz Bowers.

During Devine's sophomore, junior and seniors seasons of football the Warriors never lost a game and were tied once. They were the state Class D champions in 1957 and outscored opponents 218-18 in 1959. He was a Boston Globe Class D All-Scholastic as a senior.
In basketball, Wayland won the Tech Tournament Devine's junior year.

The 1959 baseball team went undefeated during the regular season with a 15-0 record.

Devine played freshman football at Northeastern before transferring to Boston University. While at BU, he played two seasons with the semipro Framingham Falcons football team.

After graduating from college, Devine taught and coached at Wayland High before moving over to Acton-Boxboro in both capacities. He later spent time officiating football and basketball.

Joe and Kathy Devine have been married 43 years and are the parents of three grown children: Tara, Mike and Rebecca. They have two grandsons.
