Russ Doherty - 1982 Basketball

 

Doherty was the classic big man when Wayland High went undefeated at 22-0 and won the state championship in 1981. He averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds per game that year for the Warriors.

Over Doherty's three-year career, his team's compiled a 62-4 record. A tri-captain his senior year, Doherty was a two-time Dual County League MVP, a two-time DCL All-Star, a two-time all-scholastic selection and a Street and Smith All-American honorable mention.

He went on to play four years of varsity basketball at Boston College. He traveled to Yugoslavia with the Big East All-Stars his senior year. Doherty graduated from BC with a degree in communications.

An advertising consultant for Monster Worldwide, Doherty and his wife Christine are the parents of three children: daughter Kelly and sons Mitchell and Shea.
