Norma Gladu - 1960 Field Hockey

 

Norma Gladu was a standout in field hockey (right inner/right halfback), basketball (forward) and lacrosse (second home) before graduating from Wayland High School in 1968. She earned team MVP honors for the Warriors in basketball her senior year and in lacrosse as both a junior and senior.

She was also the recipient of the Babe Ruth Sportsmanship Award as a senior. Norma went on to play four sports in college at Adrian College in Michigan. She played field hockey (center forward), volleyball (hitter), basketball (forward) and tennis (fourth singles, second doubles).

Norma returned to Adrian College following her graduation after teaching public school for one year at Dundee High in Dundee, Michigan.

Over the years, Norma has served as Women's Athletic Director, field hockey coach, assistant women's basketball coach, women's swimming and diving coach, volleyball coach and tennis coach at Adrian College. She has also been a professor of exercise science, at Adrian since 1973.
