Richard Orr - 1970 Track

Richard Orr was an outstanding performer in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track for all four of his years at Wayland High School. He served as a captain in each sport his senior year.

Orr set school and league records in the 600, 800 and the 180 hurdles for the Warriors. In fact, he set a state record in the 600 his senior year and tied for the fastest time in the nation that year in that event.

At Holy Cross College, Orr competed in cross country his first two years in college and was a member of the indoor and outdoor track teams all four years at Mount St. James. He was a captain during both track seasons.

Orr earned a philosophy degree at Holy Cross and later added a MBA in finance from Bentley College. He has served as a commercial bank vice president, a Sallie Mae regional manager and financial adviser with American Express.

Orr married his college sweetheart Mary 34 years ago and the couple are the parents of a daughter, Margo, and two sons, Chris and Mike.

Orr enjoys making furniture and playing banjo in a band called The Grateful Dads.
